Hi! I’m Shirley.

LEarning and development specialist

I design learning experiences that bridge the gap between what AI can generate and what we as humans actually need.

Through my experience, I've learned something critical: technology can deliver content, but only people can understand the context, culture, and what truly motivates learners to change their behavior.

I specialize in bilingual (English/Spanish) learning strategies and transforming complex technical content into accessible, engaging programs that learners actually want to complete.

What AI Can't Replace

(And What I Do Best)

AI can draft content, generate quizzes, and summarize research. But instructional design requires something fundamentally human:

  • Reading between the data

I analyze engagement metrics, completion rates, and feedback patterns to identify where learners are struggling —not just that they're struggling —and I redesign experiences to address root causes, not symptoms.

  • Uncovering context

Through stakeholder interviews and needs assessments, I identify the dynamics and organizational barriers that influence training.

  • Designing for diverse learners

I create multiple pathways through content—honoring different learning styles, language preferences, and accessibility needs- not just "one-size-fits-all" translations.

  • Translating between worlds

I help SMEs (subject matter experts) organize content so each audience learns what they need without feeling overwhelmed by what they don't.

  • Anticipating friction points

I design learning experiences that account for the emotional journey—where frustration builds, where confidence wavers, where motivation drops—building in scaffolding, encouragement, and quick wins strategically.

  • Advocating for impact

I design lean, focused experiences over bloated courses, creating the right learning environment to ensure skill application, not just information absorption
